Located at the Vindhya Hills of Umaria District in Madhya Pradesh, Bandhavgarh National Park is one of the most famous National Parks of India, sprawled across a total 1537 sq Kms approximately. The national Park is home for almost 22 species of animals (especially mammals) and 250 species of birds. The reserve was named Bandhavgarh because of the existence of a prehistoric fort in hillock of Vindhya Ranges of Umaria. The name of the fortress was given with a combination of two words: ‘Bandhav’ means ‘Brother’ and “Garh’ means ‘Fort’, which stands for brother's fort. It is believed that Lord Rama gifted this incredible fort to his younger brother Lakshmana.

Bandhavgarh National Park is primarily renowned to be the home for majestic Tigers and hence jungle safari in Bandhavgarh Tiger reserve is popular amongst the wildlife enthusiasts. The other carnivore races such as leopard, jackal, sloth bear, deer, chausingha, nilgai and many varieties adds up to the list of occupants of this amazing woodland.

It is a homogeneous amalgamation of Sal vegetation, Bamboo stretches along the landscape. The hilly area also includes tall grasslands, which are unique in this region. Some of the other floral species include Banyan, Babul, Amla, Jamun, Mango, Saj, Dhara Arjun and so on.
